The Fitzroy Legal Service leads many Social
Action campaigns to improve the rights of its clients and the local community
using law reform, advocacy, policy development and community legal education.
Fitzroy Legal Service strives to encourage
empowerment in the community and to make individuals and organisations aware
that they can influence the laws that affect them in their every day lives.
The Social Action Team at Fitzroy Legal
Service runs radio shows on 3CR and 3RRR, offers community legal education on
many legal issues, prepares law reform and policy submissions to the government
and holds public forums and social events and produces plain English legal
websites and publications.
The front windows of the FLS office have been used to raise awareness of local issues and promote equity and justice. The windows are designed by Abby Ogada-Osir, Legal Trainee 2010 and created with the help of FLS volunteers.
