Volunteers at FLS celebrated - Love your work!
Yarra City Council has formally recognised the invaluable contribution of FLS volunteers. A ceremony at the Fitzroy Town Hall on May 17th commended the important work of FLS volunteers and the role they play in strengthening the community.
Julie Fletcher, FLS Volunteer Coordinator, gave a presentation to a packed town hall on the dedicated service our volunteers provide to the community through the night service, our day practice, our publications, our social action projects and outreach clinic.
Ella Crotty, FLS volunteer, accepted the commendation from Cr Geoff Barbour (Mayor, Yarra City Council) on behalf of all FLS volunteers. She also gave a passionate speech on the meaningful work she has had the opportunity to carry out as well as the inspiring people she has encountered along the way, both colleagues and clients.
Julie registered all of our current volunteers in the event and will be asking the night coordinators to distribute the certificates to the night service volunteers.
Many thanks to Ella and Julie and especially to all the volunteers at Fitzroy Legal Service.
