We run four free, appointment-based legal advice services.
- Family law: we run two family law legal advice clinics; one every Tuesday night and one every Thursday night. An appointment is required. Four half hour appointments are available each clinic. Cases requiring legal representation may be able to be referred for free or low-cost legal representation.
- Richmond outreach (evening): we run a legal advice clinic at the North Richmond Community Health Centre fortnightly on a Tuesday evening. An appointment is required. Three appointments are available each fortnight. The clinic is restricted residents of the City of Yarra. Cases requiring legal representation may be able to be referred for free or low-cost legal representation.
- Animal law: in partnership with Lawyers for Animals, we run an animal law legal advice clinic every Wednesday night. An appointment is required. Two appointments are available each week from 6.30 p.m. The clinic provides advice on animal law issues including dog bites, attacks or rushing, restricted dog breed declarations, council powers to seize or dispose of dogs and cats, complaints about the conduct or services provided by a veterinarian or dog groomer, and disputes about ownership of an animal. The clinic does not provide advice about animal cruelty charges, the governance of animal advocacy groups, assistance animals or advocacy (e.g., submissions or policy work).
- LGBTIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer): we run an LGBTIQ family law legal advice clinic on the first Wednesday of each month. An appointment is required. Four half hour appointments are available each month, commencing from 6.30 p.m. This clinic can assist individuals from the LGBTIQ community with family law matters only.
