The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) is Australia’s only community justice centre. It is located in Collingwood and services the City of Yarra. The NJC is committed to resolving disputes by addressing the underlying causes of harmful behaviour and tackling social disadvantage. The NJC has been effective in reducing crime, increasing community safety and creating savings by reducing the number of cases in the system. It has done this by bringing together multiple jurisdictions, and a wide array of support services and community initiatives.
Our staff based at the NJC provide legal advice and representation in the following courts and tribunals that are held at the NJC: Magistrates’ Court, Children’s Court, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT).
