During this and next week, Fitzroy Legal Service is participating in a series of community awareness events as part of a Week Without Violence. The initiative is part of a global campaign to end violence against women.
FLS is providing information about how the law can help and the legal pathways available at pop-up stalls organised by Women's Health in the North, the Northern Integrated Family Violence Services and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre. One pop-up has already taken place at the Richmond Housing Estate (pictured) and two more are planned:
Thursday, 18 October 2018, 3-5 p.m.
at the Collingwood Housing Estate
Monday, 22 October 2018, 3-5 p.m.
at the Fitzroy Housing Estate
Artworks from the Clothes Line Project, where women and their supporters expresses their feelings about family violence on t-shirts, will also be on display.
As part of the Week Without Violence events, we will be providing legal information to students at Fitzroy High School as part of their respectful relationships program. Our family law specialist Ella Crotty and education officer Ela Stewart will outline what family violence is under the law and how to get help and support.
